BracketBuster game revealed

LMU will host Valparaiso in its BracketBuster game, ESPN announced today. The game will take place Friday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. and be broadcast live on ESPNU. Only 26 of the 71 games earned a TV spot. Valparaiso is 15-8 on the season and 8-3 in conference play. As part of the contract, LMU will visit Valparaiso on a future, mutually-agreeable date.

The 10th annual Sears BracketBusters is a three-day men’s college basketball event pitting potential NCAA Championship hopefuls against each other, and will be held Feb. 17-19.

The Lions traveled to Portland State a season ago to take place in BracketBusters, losing 84-75.

LMU recruiting two point guards

Courtesy of Ironlion
With the release of Edgar Garibay from the men's basketball team's roster, the Lions now have one more recruiting spot open for next season. LMU has secured Taj Adams, Tobe Okafor, and future star Nick Stover but are definitely in need of a point guard to eventually take over for Anthony Ireland. It seems the team feels the same way, as the Lions have been recruiting two different Class of 2012 PGs.

As mentioned on the website The Recruiting Scoop, the Lions have thrown their hat in the ring for 6'6" point guard Amedeo Della Valle from Findaly Prep in Nevada. The talented guard has received offers from a number of high-profile programs, so it is not likely for LMU to land him, but the website does say that the Lions have made an offer. However, so has Gonzaga, UConn, Saint Mary's, Arizona, UCLA and more.
Scout.com is reporting that LMU has also given an offer to Keywhon Powns, a 6'3" guard from Westchester. He is also being looked at by San Diego State, Marquette and Florida State, but has only received offers from LMU and Cal State Northridge.

DuBois comes up big, Lions hold on against Portland

Jarred DuBois drained a three-pointer with 17 seconds left on the clock to break a 59-59 tie and give LMU the lead for good last night, en route to a 62-59 victory. The Lions are now 6-3 in West Coast Conference play and sit in a tie for third place with BYU.

It was the third game in six days for the Lions last night and it showed, as the team shot just 41 percent from the field and were just 4-19 from three-point land. DuBois had three of those four threes, and none more timely than the game-winner. The redshirt junior guard led the way for LMU with a season-high 18 points. Portland had a shot to tie the game with the ball and 17 seconds on the clock, but tough defense by the Lions forced the Pilots to not even get off a shot-attempt.

The Lions received off-nights offensively from Drew Viney, who was just 3-9 from the floor and finished with 14 points, and Anthony Ireland, who was 3-8 with six points and just two assists. The Lions had just seven assists as a team. However, the Lions buckled down on defense when it mattered, holding the Pilots without a field goal for the last 2:59 of play.

LMU will now get a couple days of rest before it hosts rival Pepperdine Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.

LMU hosts Portland tonight

The Lions are 5-3 in conference play, with losses to only the top-three teams in the WCC. The team hopes to keep it that way tonight, when they host the 2-6 Portland Pilots. Last year, the Pilots won both regular season match-ups against the Lions before LMU shocked Portland in Vegas, eliminating them from the WCC Tournament. The Pilots enter Gersten having lost five straight games.

Portland is led by sophomore forward Ryan Nicholas, who is leading the team with 11.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The Pilots are coming off of a 12-point loss to Gonzaga, a game that was much closer than the score shows.

The Lions need a win to keep a firm hold on the fourth spot in the WCC standings, with San Francisco only 1.5 games behind. While the LMU/Portland game (7 p.m. start) is important for the Lions and their fans, it is clearly not the cream of the crop when it comes to WCC match-ups tonight, as undefeated Saint Mary's is traveling to BYU in what should be a great showdown. That game tips off at 6 p.m. on ESPNU. The LMU game can be seen live on Fox Sports West.

Upon further thought ...

A couple more thoughts from last night's game:

  • Other than a six-point win over San Diego, LMU's seven-point loss to Saint Mary's last night was the closest game the Gaels have played in conference this season. There's no shame in the loss, and now the Lions know what they need to do differently when they travel to Moraga on Feb. 15.
  • Drew Viney went 7-12 in the game. However, he took five shots in the first five minutes of play, and seven shots in the remaining 35 minutes. He had 11 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, and seven points in the remaining 30 minutes. Drew needs to stay actively engaged in the offense for the full 40 minutes, and continue to look for his shot throughout the game. The Lions offense went dead during the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half, which not surprisingly matches up with the period of the game where Drew took little to no shots.
  • The Lions did not receive good offensive games from their bigs (Ashley Hamilton, Godwin Okonji and Alex Osborne). Ashley did have 14 points, however he was only 5-15 from the field. If Okonji and Osborne are handling the ball like they did last night, it's a liability to have them shoot. We should still pound the ball inside, but with the game plan being to immediately kick it back out for an open shot.
  • Tomorrow's game against Portland is big. The team needs to get the conference-home-win monkey off its back, and not let a surging University of San Francisco team get any closer in the standings.

LMU falls to 5-3 in WCC play

Drew Viney had 18 points for the Lions in the loss.
The Saint Mary's Gaels preserved their perfect conference record tonight, defeating the LMU Lions 71-64. The visiting Gaels were led by Stephen Holt, who finished with 19 points and six rebounds. The Gaels are now 9-0 in West Coast Conference play, while the Lions fell to 5-3. LMU's three losses, however, have come to the top three teams in the league.

The loss is only a frustrating one for LMU because of the team's hot start. The Lions held a six-point lead with five minutes remaining in the first half, before trailing by four at the break. LMU had no answer to the Gaels offense in the second period, as Saint Mary's scored at ease down the stretch.

LMU was led by redshirt senior Drew Viney, who finished with 18 points. Eleven of Viney's 11 points, however, came in the opening minutes of the game. Point guard Anthony Ireland finished with 15 points and five assists, while Ashley Hamilton chipped in 14 points and five rebounds of his own.

The Lions will now continue this homestand against Portland on Saturday. The Pilots played Gonzaga tough tonight, before eventually losing by 12. Portland is now 2-6 in conference play. LMU is still looking for its first conference home win, and Saturday's game will be an extremely important one for the Lions if they want to stay in the top tier of the conference's standings. Game tips off at 7 p.m.

LMU looks to shock No. 20 Saint Mary's

Tonight's matchup pits the conference's two best point guards against each other.
The Lions will host No. 20 Saint Mary's tonight, looking for their first WCC home win against a team that is currently undefeated (8-0) in West Coast Conference play. The Lions last played at home on Jan. 14, when they lost a tight one to Gonzaga. LMU then went on the road to win two straight at BYU and then Santa Clara Monday night.

Saint Mary's has looked like the cream of the crop in the WCC thus far this season, getting out to an undefeated record that includes decisive home wins against Gonzaga and BYU.

The key matchup of the night will clearly be that of the point guards, who are arguably the two best point guards in the WCC. Here's how they stack up against each other, with WCC ranking in parenthesis.

                                  Anthony Ireland                                       Matthew Dellavedova
Scoring                             15.9 (3)                                                          15.8 (4)
Assists                               5.2 (3)                                                            6.5 (1)
Minutes per Game              36.1 (2)                                                          36.5 (1)

It will clearly be fun to watch these two go at it.

The key for the Lions tonight is going to be focus. They showed at BYU last week that they can play good basketball, but they have often times shown a lack of focus and drive during home games. LMU can not get complacent, not even for a couple minutes, against this strong Saint Mary's team and expect to win.

The Lions will also have to find an answer for Rob Jones of the Gaels, who is leading the conference in rebounding with an impressive 10.7 per game. Drew Viney and Ashley Hamilton will need to match Jones on the boards, but also attack him on the offensive end and hope to get Jones in foul trouble. Furthermore, if the Lions can pound the ball inside like they have been the last couple of games, LaRon Armstead, Jarred DuBois and Ireland will become even stronger outside scoring threats.

Game tips off at 7 p.m.

Santa Clara's Foster out indefinitely after DUI

Santa Clara's already-tough season just got a lot worse, as it seems that Kevin Foster's absence from the team's lineup is likely for longer than just the Broncos loss to LMU on Monday. Bay Area news sources are reporting that Foster is "out indefinitely" after his "his weekend arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence." Read more here and here.

The Broncos were already dealt a blow earlier this season when big man Marc Trasolini tore his ACL. He will miss the entire season.

This news doesn't do much for West Coast Conference competition, as Santa Clara is currently last in the standings.

Garibay to Long Beach State

Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports is reporting that former LMU center Edgar Garibay, who requested a release from the men's basketball team earlier this month, has transferred to Long Beach State.

LMU wins fifth straight on road, improves to 5-2

Alex Osborne led the Lions with nine rebounds in the 74-62 win.
After a huge victory at BYU Thursday, the Lions didn't allow for any letdown tonight, defeating Santa Clara 74-62. Reigning WCC Player of the Week Anthony Ireland led the way with 25 points, also adding five assists.

Santa Clara's leading scorer Kevin Foster was held out of the game due to disciplinary reasons. He is averaging more than 17 points per game.

The Broncos led 2-0 to start the game, but never again held the advantage. Falling down by as many as a dozen, Santa Clara did fight back to get within six at 66-60, but the Lions did a great job of closing this one out. Senior Drew Viney and LaRon Armstead joined Ireland in double figures, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively. The Lions shot an incredible 51 percent in the game, and an impressive 43 percent from long range.

Jarred DuBois returned from injury tonight to score nine points. He now has an impressive 1,000 career points with the Lions.

LMU will return to Gersten Pavilion Thursday to take on the undefeated Saint Mary's Gaels. The Lions have yet to win a conference game at home, and will have a tough test Thursday with the No. 23 nationally ranked Gaels. Game tips off at 7 p.m.

Foster out for game against LMU

LMU vs. Santa Clara is currently underway, but it is worth mentioning that three Broncos starters were held out of the starting lineup tonight due to disciplinary reasons. Santa Clara's leading scorer Kevin Foster will be held out of the entire game due to a violation of team rules, while Evan Roquemore, the Broncos starting point guard, came in off the bench due to a violation of team policies.

The Broncos will severely miss Foster's 17.8 ppg.

Follow along with live stats from the game here.

Ireland named WCC Player of the Week

LMU sophomore guard Anthony Ireland has just been named WCC Player of the Week, the conference announced. In the Lions lone game of the week, Ireland led LMU to an upset victory over BYU after scoring 27 points and dishing out five assists. He is the second Lion to be named POW this year, after Ashley Hamilton took home the honor the first week of the season.

Ireland and the Lions travel to Santa Clara tonight to take on the Broncos at 7 p.m.

LMU looks for fifth straight road win

Anthony Ireland led the Lions to a victory over BYU Thursday with a career-high 27 points.
The Lions will look to continue their four-game road win streak tomorrow when they take on the Santa Clara Broncos at 7 p.m. It looks like video will be available (for $10) on the Broncos website.

While LMU is coming off of its thrashing of BYU Thursday night, the Broncos are coming off of a hard-fought battle against Saint Mary's on Saturday. The Broncos, who led by as many as ten points, eventually fell to the Gaels by 12 after a late-game meltdown. Santa Clara was led by guard Kevin Foster, a prolific three-point shooter, who had 22 points.

It is crucial for the Lions to prove that they should be considered one of the top four teams in the WCC with a victory against the Broncos. To do so, they must contain Foster, which will be easier with the return of Jarred DuBois, who has missed three games due to a concussion. DuBois, a strong defender, will likely get the call to defend Foster, as will Ayudeji Egbeyemi.

It will also be important for LMU to command the pain against the Broncos, whose big man Marc Trasolini is out for the season with an injury. Look for Ashley Hamilton and Alex Osborne to make their presence known on the offensive end of the court.

The Lions, now 4-2 in conference play, have played very well on the road this season, and have still yet to win a conference game in the confines of Gersten Pavilion.

Lions must gain momentum from big win

The Lions played a great game against BYU last night. Other than the victory over ranked Saint Louis in non-conference play, that was the most complete 40 minutes of basketball I've seen LMU play this season. Once again, Anthony Ireland led the way, but both Drew Viney and LaRon Armstead both contributed big minutes on both the offensive and defensive (props to both of them for stepping up their defense) ends of the court while the rest of the players played the roles they needed to.

Since WCC play began, I've been extremely impressed with the Lions ability to improve their offense since non-conference play, when the offense at time looked repetitive and stagnant. LMU is currently doing a great job of making an effort to work the ball inside (somewhat thanks to the return of Ashley Hamilton) and keeping their opponents defense on its heels.

The Lions, however, have a potentially tough game in store for them on Monday at Santa Clara. Sandwiched between a huge win over BYU and an impending home game against 7-0 Saint Mary's, LMU will take a quick trip up North to take on the Broncos. This game has the recipe to be a trap game for the Lions, who will need to make sure they don't overlook the 0-4 Broncos. Santa Clara is better than their 0-4 WCC record shows, with two talented guards in Kevin Foster and Evan Roquemore, and now that LMU has proven it belongs as one of the top-four teams in the conference it needs to prove it can stay that way with a win over a bottom-tier team.

While it is still early (LMU has played only six of its 16 conference games), here are where the WCC standings sit right now.

While we'll wait until later in the season to truly start discussing WCC Tournament matchups, it is not too early to state the the Lions need to aim for a top-four conference finish, which would bypass them into the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament in Las Vegas.

The great news for LMU? This team could very easily be 6-0 in conference right now, with its two losses both coming in close games (loss to BYU, loss to Gonzaga). There is no need to start a "what if" game about those two contests; it's truly a great thing that the Lions have not looked outmatched against any team thus far in conference play.

Let's hope LMU can keep up the great play and handle Santa Clara as they should Monday night.

Lions upset BYU behind Ireland's career high

LMU upset BYU tonight 82-68 to hand the Cougars their first conference home loss in WCC play. The Lions improve to 4-2 while the Cougars drop to 5-2. Sophomore guard Anthony Ireland contributed a career-high 27 points, going 12-14 from the free throw line to secure the victory late in the second half.

BYU led early in the contest, but never in the second period. LMU held the home team to just 2-25 from behind the arc, while knocking down seven three-pointers of their own. All four of LMU's conference victories now come on the road.

Drew Viney was a very economical 7-11 from the field, good enough for 21 points, while also pulling down six rebounds. LMU also received 12 points from senior LaRon Armstead. The Lions were once again without Jarred DuBois, who is out due to injury.

LMU will now have a rare Monday conference game, when they take on Santa Clara next week.

Lions to face tough road test at BYU

LMU will take on BYU tonight on the road at 5:30 (PT). The game will be shown live on Fox Sports Prime Ticket and also online at BYUtv.org.

The Lions enter the contest 3-2 in West Coast Conference play after a tough loss to Gonzaga on Saturday. The Cougars will enter the game 4-1 in WCC play, with their only loss coming against Saint Mary's. They have yet to play the Zags.

The Lions and Cougars matched up at Gersten Pavilion just two weeks ago, when BYU left with a 73-65 victory. LMU, however, put up a tough fight, finding itself down by 13 with 2:44 to play before closing the gap to just two with 49 seconds remaining. Anthony Ireland led the way in the loss with 21 points, while Drew Viney and Jarred DuBois each contributed 13 but on a combined 9-29 from the field. The Lions played that game without Ashley Hamilton, who will be in the lineup tonight. Click here for a great article on Hamilton and the impact he makes on the Lions' roster.

Tonight's game will not be an easy one for the Lions, who will travel to BYU for the first time since the Cougars joined the WCC. BYU has easily the strongest home court advantage in the conference, with attendance which gets up to ten times larger than what the Lions see at Gersten.

A fully healthy roster will once again not be a reality for the Lions, however, as it looks like Jarred DuBois is still out with what the Athletics Department is calling a concussion suffered in the Lions game against San Diego 12 days ago. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, BYU will also not be 100% healthy. Click here for more.

BYU "banged up"

The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that the BYU men's basketball team may not be 100% healthy for tomorrow's matchup against LMU.

"
Less than 24 hours after handling San Diego 82-63 on Monday night, the Cougars returned to practice Tuesday as a "banged up" basketball team, in the words of coach Dave Rose.

"We are kinda banged up," Rose said. "Stephen's got a knee, Matt's hamstring is kinda sore, and Noah has some issues, Brock has an elbow [problem]. So it was a physical game, and we got some shots up -- got a lot of shots up today. We will put the game plan in for LMU tomorrow and get ready."

Lions on losing end of tough battle

Ashley Hamilton had a team-high 16 points in the four-point loss
Not much to say about last night's game. It was a hard-fought battle by both teams, and the Lions, in the end, just couldn't pull it out. Everyone seemed to put in their all, and of all the losses this entire season this is the one in which the Lions probably played the best. An off-shooting night from Drew Viney (2-10 from the field) didn't help matters, but if anything this game showed that the Lions can grind it out with the best of the conference.

Click here for a full recap and box score.

LMU is now 3-2 in conference play, and will travel to BYU Thursday. It won't be an easy game to win, as BYU is an extremely strong team at home.

Jarred DuBois likely out for Gonzaga game

According to the LMU Athletics website, guard Jarred DuBois is likely out for LMU's game Saturday evening against Gonzaga. The redshirt junior missed Thursday's game against Pepperdine due to a concussion.

The news is not good for the Lions, as Anthony Ireland will be the only ball-handler suiting up. Ireland played a full 40 minutes on Thursday.

LMU has dressed a full lineup only once this year, for the victory in San Diego.

Lions snap streak, win at Pepperdine 68-58

First of all, huge props need to be given to Anthony Ireland. There are many time every game where I think "My goodness, where would we be without AI," but tonight, with Jarred DuBois out with a concussion, the sophomore guard played a full 40 minutes of basketball and led LMU to its first win at Pepperdine since 1998. Exhausted (rightfully so) midway through the second period, Ireland did his best to conserve energy on the offensive end of the court, as to not hinder the Lions defensively. However, as soon as LMU found itself in a scoring drought, Ireland scored back-to-back buckets for the Lions when they needed it most.

The victory was an important one for the Lions, who will now enter their home game against Gonzaga Saturday night with a 3-1 West Coast Conference record. Ireland led the way with 21 points on 7-11 shooting, and Drew Viney was not far behind with 19 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Ireland and Viney are definitely beginning to work well together, and the two contributed more than half of the Lions points.

Despite allowing a somewhat disconcerting 30 points in the paint, LMU's defense held its own, holding the Waves to 37 percent from the field and 21 percent from behind the arc. Center Godwin Okonji pulled in nine boards and had a team-high four blocks. LaRon Armstead, Ayodeji Egbeyemi and Ashley Hamilton (despite shooting just 3-11 from the field) also contributed solid minutes in the win.

LMU will now look to put together a three-game conference win streak as it hosts Gonzaga Saturday night. The game has an early tip-off of 5 p.m. Jarred DuBois' status for that game is not yet known, as he will be evaluated Friday.

Lions look to snap Malibu drought

Ashley Hamilton returned from injury Saturday to score 16 points for the Lions
To say Firestone Fieldhouse, home of the Pepperdine Waves, has been unfriendly to the Lions in past years would be an understatement. When LMU enters Malibu tomorrow to face Pepperdine, the Lions will be attempting to win a game in Firestone for the first time since the 1997-98 season. The Waves have also bested the Lions in 24 of the two team's last 29 meetings.

LMU, which is now 2-1 in conference play after a nice win over San Diego on Saturday, is now finally healthy, and is expected to bring a full roster to Malibu. I would expect Ashley Hamilton to return to the starting lineup, giving LMU a nice inside scoring presence to go along with the in-and-out abilities of Drew Viney and Anthony Ireland.

The Waves are 1-3 in conference play, beating San Francisco on opening night before losing three straight to Saint Mary's, Gonzaga and Portland. Pepperdine is led by Taylor Darby (11.7 ppg) and Corbin Moore (10.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg). Last year, LMU and Pepperdine split their two contests, with each team winning on its home court.

The game will be an important one for the Lions, who will be looking to keep their conference record above .500 before hosting Gonzaga on Saturday.

Team win improves conference record to 2-1

The Lions took care of business in San Diego last night, defeating the Toreros 79-68. Drew Viney led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Ashley Hamilton returned from injury to contribute 16 points of his own.

LMU's offense, which looked stagnant Thursday night against BYU, moved the ball extremely well, something that led to four different Lions scoring in double figures. Anthony Ireland had 15 while Jarred DuBois had 10. With Hamilton back in the lineup, LMU is able to consciously work the ball into the post on offense, which in turn leads to better shots from the perimeter. LMU shot 55 percent from beyond the arc in the game.

This was the first game all season where all roster players were suited up and available to play.

The Lions will now travel to Pepperdine on Thursday, a place where they have not played well. The Waves are coming off of a 10-point loss to Portland Saturday night, and are 1-3 in conference play with a win over San Francisco and losses to Saint Mary's and Gonzaga.

Lions look to take 2-1 WCC record

LMU will travel to San Diego tonight to take on the University of San Diego Toreros at 6 p.m. The Lions have won three of the last four regular season contests against the Toreros, but lost the last one at San Diego by three points one year ago when multiple last-second shot attempts bounced off the rim.

San Diego is 5-9 on the season and 0-2 in conference play after losses to BYU and Saint Mary's. The Toreros did play Saint Mary's tough two days ago, losing by just six points to the conference powerhouse, and received 22 points from guard Johnny Dee. San Diego shot 50 percent from the floor in the game, including 7-14 from three, something the Lions will need to contain.

This is an important game for LMU, which can either establish itself as a team which beats down on the lower-half of the WCC standings, or belongs there itself. You can follow along with live video action or with live tweeting from San Diego.

Seton Hall lands highly-coveted guard

Aquille Carr, a guard from the class of 2013, committed to Seton Hall today. It had been noted recently that LMU was recruiting him, but it seems that dream has ended.

Same story, different night

LMU fans walked out of Gersten Pavilion last night with a sense of de ja vu, after the Lions played a strong opponent very tough in the first half, fell down by double-digits in the second half, and then made a strong run in the final minutes before finally losing 73-65.

New to the West Coast Conference, BYU entered Gersten with a 12-4 record, 1-1 in WCC play. Reigning WCC Player of the Week got off to a hot start, scoring six points in the first three minutes of play. LMU made some adjustments, however, and cooled the forward down, holding him to just 11 points in the remaining 37 minutes. LMU could not hold down Noah Harstock, however, who an impressive 9-12 from the field to finish with 21 points.

The Lions got off to a hot start of their own last night, pulling out to an eight-point lead midway through the first period after back-to-back jumpers from freshman C.J. Blackwell. A strong run by the visiting Cougars, however, had both teams entering the locker room squared at 34 at the half.

BYU made multiple attempts to pull away from LMU in the second half but the Lions did just enough to stay close. Despite shooting just 34 percent in the game and 19 percent from beyond the arc, LMU found itself in a four-point game with just seven minutes remaining. However, the offense began to struggle to find any sort of shot, and Harstock rattled off three straight baskets to give his team an 11-point lead.

Always a team to add some late-game drama, LMU made it interesting again down by 12 with 2:08 left on the clock. However, after tough end-of-the-game work from Anthony Ireland, who finished with a team-high 21 points, and Alex Osborne, who finished with a team-high 11 rebounds, the Lions managed to get within two points of BYU with 44 seconds left but nothing closer.

Drew Viney, playing in his third-straight game, contributed 13 points for the Lions, 10 of which came in the first half. The forward struggled from the field in the second half, and finished the game just 4-14 from the field. It was a pattern for LMU, who also received a 5-15 night from Jarred DuBois and an 0-7 night from Ayodeji Egbeyemi.

The Lions, who are now 1-1 in conference play, will travel down to San Diego Saturday to take on the Toreros. Game is set for 6 p.m. The University of San Diego is coming off of a tough loss to powerhouse Saint Mary's, losing by just six points.

WCC newcomer set to visit Gersten on Thursday

LMU will have its hands full with BYU's Brandon Davies
After a roller coaster victory over the University of San Francisco to kick of WCC Play, the Lions will now return home briefly to host BYU on Thursday. The Cougars are 1-1 in WCC play thus far, opening their conference season with a double-digit loss to Saint Mary's before thumping San Diego on Saturday.

Cougars forward Brandon Davies enters Gersten Pavilion Thursday as the reigning WCC Player of the Week, after posting an astonishing 22 rebounds to go along with his 21 points in his team's game against San Diego. He also had a game-high 28 points against Saint Mary's.

The Lions will have a tough task ahead of them, but will be coming off of a dramatic victory at San Francisco. It looks like Drew Viney is now back in the lineup after playing only three non-conference games, and the forward contributed 15 points at San Francisco before fouling out midway through the second period. The status of Ashley Hamilton is still unknown, but the Lions' big man should be back within the next week or so, after being cleared to practice a few days ago. The status of LaRon Armstead, who suffered a concussion in San Francisco, is unclear.

The game is set to tip-off in Gersten Pavilion at 6 p.m. PT, and can also be seen on BYUtv. Click here for more information.

Watch LMU's thrilling victory

If you weren't at the Lions victory over San Francisco on Saturday, the below video incudes the end of regulation and all of overtime, including Anthony Ireland's game-winning shot. Freshman C.J. Blackwell led the Lions with 19 points off the bench, while Ireland chipped in 17 of his own.
