The Lions took care of business in San Diego last night, defeating the Toreros 79-68. Drew Viney led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Ashley Hamilton returned from injury to contribute 16 points of his own.
LMU's offense, which looked stagnant Thursday night against BYU, moved the ball extremely well, something that led to four different Lions scoring in double figures. Anthony Ireland had 15 while Jarred DuBois had 10. With Hamilton back in the lineup, LMU is able to consciously work the ball into the post on offense, which in turn leads to better shots from the perimeter. LMU shot 55 percent from beyond the arc in the game.
This was the first game all season where all roster players were suited up and available to play.
The Lions will now travel to Pepperdine on Thursday, a place where they have not played well. The Waves are coming off of a 10-point loss to Portland Saturday night, and are 1-3 in conference play with a win over San Francisco and losses to Saint Mary's and Gonzaga.
