LMU looks for fifth straight road win

Anthony Ireland led the Lions to a victory over BYU Thursday with a career-high 27 points.
The Lions will look to continue their four-game road win streak tomorrow when they take on the Santa Clara Broncos at 7 p.m. It looks like video will be available (for $10) on the Broncos website.

While LMU is coming off of its thrashing of BYU Thursday night, the Broncos are coming off of a hard-fought battle against Saint Mary's on Saturday. The Broncos, who led by as many as ten points, eventually fell to the Gaels by 12 after a late-game meltdown. Santa Clara was led by guard Kevin Foster, a prolific three-point shooter, who had 22 points.

It is crucial for the Lions to prove that they should be considered one of the top four teams in the WCC with a victory against the Broncos. To do so, they must contain Foster, which will be easier with the return of Jarred DuBois, who has missed three games due to a concussion. DuBois, a strong defender, will likely get the call to defend Foster, as will Ayudeji Egbeyemi.

It will also be important for LMU to command the pain against the Broncos, whose big man Marc Trasolini is out for the season with an injury. Look for Ashley Hamilton and Alex Osborne to make their presence known on the offensive end of the court.

The Lions, now 4-2 in conference play, have played very well on the road this season, and have still yet to win a conference game in the confines of Gersten Pavilion.
